BACKGROUND: At birth, Justine’s parents thought they were blessed with their beautiful baby girl. What parent wouldn’t be? Unfortunately, their celebrations were short lived. Their daughter was rarely a peaceful baby. She cried, laughed, balled her little fists in rage, but never paused for a moment between emotions. When they had a fight, Justine became just as angry. When they were loving, the little girl cooed with such pure happiness that it was hard to tell that she was the same child from only an hour before. Her emotions had no limit. She couldn’t hold back bursts of anger, bouts of sadness, or even complete happiness. Her mood swings were quick and irrational. The strain of it was hard on her parents, especially as she grew older and more rebellious. If she felt something, she couldn’t be held back.

Eventually, it became too much. There was no way to tell what was wrong. Justine didn’t have any way to not feel the emotions. She started telling people what they were feeling, without even a trace of it on their faces. She knew when someone was hurting or happy, and in turn her emotions flew to the extreme of the person closest to her. Finally, one outburst too far, her parents sought professional help. 15-year-old Justine was sent, much to the relief of her family, to a hospital for treatment. She was medicated, sedated, and hardly felt a thing. The medication made her sick, and the feelings of the staff made her anxious. She ran.

Escaping the feelings she felt was impossible. Soon enough, not only was she feeling what everyone around her was, but whenever she felt something it was often projected to the person or people in close proximity. She was an overflowing fountain of emotion, on the run from people and their feelings. Eventually, she learned of Xavier Institute, and in the hopes that they could at least help her control her powers, she enrolled.


PERSONALITY: Due to having other emotions projected onto her, Justine often suffers from emotional extremes. She’s prone to wild, unprovoked mood swings, especially when in a crowded room. It’s impossible to tell when these swings might happen, but a good indicator might be someone entering or exiting the room...

When she does have control over herself, however, she’s a completely different person. Smart, able to think on her feet, quick. If someone is able to get past the crazy and get to know her, and she really gets to know them in turn, they’re on her list of protection. Justine will do anything and everything she can to help someone she cares about.


APPEARANCE: Justine’s a little taller than your average girl. She has dark hair, dark eyes, and generally dresses however she feels. This means she could be dressed in almost nothing one day, and be covered head to toe the next. On campus she’ll try to be good and keep covered, but no promises are made for off-campus adventures.


POWERS: Justine is an empath. She can sense and feel the emotions of others, and can project her own feelings onto them. The connection of feelings will grow stronger the closer two people are, and will reach its height if she comes into contact with them (though getting this close will be far beyond comfortable for both of them). This power will most likely not be a problem around anyone with a strong immunities to psychic power, though it may still make them feel a bit anxious.
