Appearance: Justine is described as a slender young woman. Due to her canon point in the books, she will still be dark-haired upon her arrival, instead of the white hair that might be seen were she taken from a later canon point. Her sense of fashion changes depending on her mood, though she doesn’t seem to care very much about whether she’s in a stuffy old sweater or nothing at all.


Personality: At first glance, especially when around Thomas, Justine seems to be a very well-rounded and sensual girl. She is smart and resourceful, as seen in her essentially blackmailing Harry into allowing their team-up. She’s friendly and eloquent, and seems to be able to talk her own way out of most situations. Without the control that comes with Thomas, however, Justine reverts back to the over-emotional individual she is. There is no control, and her moods swing quickly and without warning from violent to distraught. While she is still very perceptive and able to pick up on small details in this state, she loses her ability to sort out the pieces of the puzzle. She can tell what others think of her when she isn’t under Thomas’ influence, and is more likely to lash out at those who are obviously put off by her, even if they deny it. With some effort, she can keep herself under control for short periods of time, but there isn’t any telling what might set her off again.


History: Not much is known about Justine’s life before she met Thomas. It appears that she has had trouble controlling her emotions for some time, and that she has been medicated for it in the past. Around the age of sixteen, she met Thomas Raith, a White Court vampire. Because of the White Court’s need to feed through emotion and life force, and her own lack of control over her emotions, Justine was an almost perfect source for feeding. The two developed an odd sort of relationship--Thomas fed off of Justine, and in turn helped to keep her emotions in-check.

During a Red Court celebration, Justine and Thomas meet wizard Harry Dresden and his companions. Towards the end of the party, Justine threatens to expose Harry’s plans of escape to Bianca unless he allows Thomas and herself to team up with him for their own escape. Unfortunately, Justine manages to get herself caught during the attempt, and Bianca makes a deal with Thomas: she’ll let Justine go if he turns over Dresden. Thomas agrees, Bianca doesn’t keep her end of the bargain, and Justine and Harry’s girlfriend Susan are dragged off into captivity. During this time, the vampires turn Susan, and take their turns at tasting Justine. Harry is thrown into the cell with them approximately two days later. Eventually, the three make their escape, and Justine is reunited with Thomas.
